Yes, different way of operating.
They could be interchangeable if you do not use multi-switch before them.
Like if you have 4x4 switch, you can not cascade 22KHz to, or if you have SW44 (or SW42) you can not use SW21 with FTA receivers (sub will allowed you to cascade those two)
For me there is only one true SW21, DN brand and DN brand only, evrything else is copy and you are taking big gamble with those and trust me, add are not in your favor.
Regarding 22KHz, for me, there are only two brands of them, Chieta and ECODA. Don't use or buy anything else. Difference between those two is that ECODA can pass trough itself DiSEqC commands on both ports (OFF and ON, or 22KHz and 0KHz) while chieta can pass DiSEqC commands only trough 0KHz (or OFF) port.
Both of those switches, SW21 and 22KHz, will go well with DP34 and DPP44 switches, as long as those are placed after (LNB --> DP34 --> SW21 (or 22KHz) --> FTA receiver.
With 5 LNB and only one FTA receiver your best and simplest option would be 4 LNB to DiSEqC switch and than use either ECODA or SW21 to bring 5th LNB to FTA receiver.
You can also use Chieta 22KHz, but make sure that DiSEqC is connected to 0KHz side of switch.
