Have not read this myself but the books must be quite popular - some even name their children after the book. Some of them are even members of Ftatalk :D

The Terrible Tudors
Foul facts about the cruellest kings and meanest queens ever to rule England!
Terry Deary and Martin Brown’s brilliant books about the nastiest periods in history have now—with the help of some astounding actors—been transformed into a series of audio extravaganzas. Featuring new, extra material not found anywhere in the books, these sound spectaculars are just as thrilling and spilling, funny and fast as their printed counterparts. Horrible Histories are guaranteed to bring you history with the nasty bits left in!

So, if you want to hear the terrible tale of an awful axeman and brush up your knowledge of Tudor torture, or if you’ve ever wondered exactly why Henry VIII thought he’d married a horse, this is the cassette for you! It’s packed with sketches, quizzes and revolting recipes which—when mixed with poems, jokes, mini-dramas and real life re-enactments—tell you the kind of foul facts which just aren’t available from a classroom education!

The Vicious Vikings
Five Stars Funny yet useful. Kids 10-13 should love it!, 5 April 1999

This book is excellent for any ages but i think, my self being a kid this book is for 10-13 year olds mostly. Parents should buy this and other Horrible History books if they cant get their kids to read other boring hisdory facts. This book has lots of information on vikings and how they lived. Who and how and when and what they conquered in a very funny way. Comic strips here and there make it funny and fun to read. There are also quizes and trick questions for your teachers about vikings, so if your teacher is a show-off then ask them some things out of here. You'll cathc them of guard! I personally like Horrible history books more than Horrible Science and Geography books because here there is like a storyline. This book is one of the best out of the Horrible History books, but I havent read all of them (and am looking forward to it). That is about it. My mum and Dad read this book and they also loved it, so that proves that it is for all ages. Terry Deary has really gone to town with this one! If your buying your first book out of this series then get this one!
