First of all, let me say THANK YOU all for this great site.. Everything I know about testing this stuff, I've learned almost all of it here..
Thanks to all your posts, I have been able to locate birds, install my D500 di*h and have been testing happily.

I am in the southern part of the U.S - I am using D500 di*h to catch both 110 and 119 at the same time. I can catch both seperately (by moving around and playing with the di*h) but when I try to catch both at the same time, I am only getting one.

My question to you guys - should I first catch/scan 110 and then skew it to get 119 ? or should i first get 119 and then try to catch 110 ? I am attaching pic of my LNB. Got two cables coming out, one for 110 and one for 119 , both going into a switch and then one cable goes to my pans*t 2500.

btw - I have PANSAT2500 (but that may not be relevant here)

Please help and thanks again for all your help - keep up the good work..

On the back it says "DI*H (tm) Network" -- it does not say DP

catch/scan 110 and then skew it to get 119 but use one cable for 110 and 119 there is a switch in the lnb use the 2nd cable for 2nd reciver if you have if you need more info just ask

ksmc6 - thanks for the reply - but i dont think i have a dpp lnb... so i dont think i need 1 cable for both birds.. i think i need 2 cables and thats why i am trying with two cables .. its a legacy lnb not dpp... i can catch 110 and 119 seperately but both are few degrees apart.. i am trying to find a position where i can catch 119 and 110 at the same time.. i just need to know which one to search/lock first and then i am guessing that i will need to skew to get the second.

So, after some tweaking around and use of some logic, I was able to get both , 110 and 119 (using two cables, 119 going into switch port#1 and 110 going into #2) - I have two issues

1 - channels are duplicates - some, not all. Even when I scan port#1, I get channels from 110 bird and vice versa
2 - for both 110 and 119, I have very weak signal.

Anyone has any thoughts on this ?

Try scanning with only one cable hooked on then unhook the original and scan the opposite bird bet ya wont get double or cross channels then. seems like a bit to do but try it.

testing Ariza700, Coolsat6000, Pansat2500/2700, Pantec ultra2500,
Viewsat Platinum, a couple fortex ultras

GOod luck

You should set the skew first then aim the dish at either sat and peak. For all D*N sats, there is a very good dish aiming program called ZIPCODE32. Enter your zipcode and it will give you the coorect skew, azimuth, and elevation settings. By adjusting the skew after you peak on a sat, you are moving off peak for that sat. D*N always suggests you set the skew first and lock it down, then aim the dish. As far as which sat to locate first, it's a matter of opinion. If you want to peak 119W first, just turn your dish a little farther west than the sat aiming program tells you and then slowly rotate your dish eastward until you lock on 119W. If you want to peak 110W first, just go farther east with the dish and slowly rotate back westward until you lock on 110W. Don't try to come from the opposite direction because you will obviously get the wrong sat first!

P.S. Is that signal or quality that is weak. Signal is just the connections between the LNBs and rcvr. If the signal is weak, check all your cable connections and adhere to the maximum cable length limits (150 ft. for legacy).

If you're sure of the type of Lnb you are using go to antenna setup and check your settings. Make sure the lnb type matches the installed lnb. Then check the remainder of your settings. You can locate the proper settings on this forum. The settings for echostar 7, must say echcostar 7,119w at the top right when set up with the correct settings. Further, settings for echostar 6,8 must say echostar 6,8 110w. If for instance you are setting up echostar 7, 119w and at the upper right shows echostar 6,8 110w your settings are wrong. Echostar 7 = port 1. Echostar 6,8 = port 2. good luck
