If you have a USB thumbdrive 512MB or better sitting around and you'd like to get some more use out of it, I urge you to check out Portableapps. Portableapps is a freeware open platform suite of applications that run directly from your thumbdrive...just pop it into any USB port and your favorite free or open source applications are ready for you to use.
Some of the notable applications included are Open Office, Gaim, 7-zip, Mozilla Firefox, ClamWin AV, Sumatra PDF and many more.
Simply download the suite from the following link and install on your USB drive (replace ** with tt):
h**p://portableapps.com/suite
But my key is U3 enabled? Yes, but most applications for U3 cost $$$. Openapps uses strictly freeware or open source software!
Why would I need to run any apps off a USB drive? Well...there are several advantages. Wherever you may be, you always have access to your software and documents. You can work on any client PC and virtually leave no trace. Your Firefox settings, extensions and bookmarks are always with you...and I could go on!
Check it out!
